Take a walk on the ghostly side Oct. 5
Hosted by the Heritage Museum, the Ghost Walk continues to attract visitors eager to experience the haunted history of Independence.
It is a free, family-friendly community event, with donations greatly appreciated.
It’s also a time when residents, volunteers and local businesses come together to celebrate the spooktacular season of October and showing the city’s rich history.
This year’s Independence Ghost Walk, which is Saturday, Oct. 5, 7-9 p.m., invites participants to explore some 20 locations within the downtown core, all easily walkable.
Waiting at each location are passionate volunteers, ready to immerse visitors in tales deeply rooted in lore, bringing the town’s well-researched history to life. Many volunteers enhance the experience by dressing in period costumes, using props, and even embodying the personas of historical figures.
If the weather cooperates - think a crisp October day without rain - you can expect more than 2,000 visitors to downtown Independence. Arrive early to take full advantage of the new additions to this year’s event.
