Makaha Sons next up at Rice Auditorium

Experience the beautiful harmonies of Makaha Sons as they bring traditional Hawaiian music to Rice Auditorium at Western Oregon University.

This appearance is part of the university’s Smith Fine Arts Series.

The concert is Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $28 in advance and $33 on the day of the show.

Makaha Sons have received numerous proclamations and awards, both in Hawaii and in the continental United States, for their efforts to perpetuate Hawaiian culture through their music. Their peers have acknowledged these efforts by awarding them Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards—the Hawaiian Grammy—for their timeless recordings and steadfast commitment to the music of the islands.

In 2013, Makaha Sons was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame.

They continue to promote the vibrant sound of Hawaii, including the rich harmonies that only they create. Their incomparable vocal arrangements and delightful stage presence is filled with comical stories and fun antics which have won the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide.

Makaha Sons will also lead a free event starting at 3 p.m. The event features music and a talk on Hawaiian culture. It is at the stage outside of Rice Auditorium.
