Wristbands now on sale

Wristbands for the Independence Days celebration are now available.

This year, following guidance from the resident-city council budget committee, wristbands are $10 each for July 4 and July 5.

However, the city is offering a special discount for Independence residents from June 3 to June 28. During this time, wristbands can be purchased for just $6 at the Independence Civic Center.

Residents will need to show proof of residence, such as an ID, utility bill, or piece of mail.

The $6 price is limited to six wristbands per family. Children 6 and under remain free of charge.

Wristbands are available at the following locations: Independence Public Library, Independence Heritage Museum, Independence Cinema, Monmouth-Independence YMCA and Polk County Fire District No. 1.
